How to choose the right smart electric kettle for you

Electric kettles are a mainstay of many modern kitchens, making it easy to heat hot water for teas, herbal infusions, coffee and for a number of different recipes. As technology develops, kettles have become more and more versatile and convenient – multi-temperature electric kettles are a good example of this innovation, being a more sustainable counterpart to older models.

In this guide, we’re going to look at the different benefits of adjustable temperature electric kettles, along with some of the considerations you should make when choosing yours.

The advantages of a smart kettle

Unlike older methods, which involved heating water through a pan on a stove, the electric kettle sees water heated using an electric resistance coil. The coil is attached to the kettle’s base which is connected to an electric outlet. The process takes just a few minutes – much quicker than using the stove.

A temperature-controlled kettle allows you to heat water to different levels and to maintain those levels as long as you need it to. Modern models can do this using less energy, because they can heat a single cup of water as needed – whereas most models need you to heat at least two.

Some multi-temperature kettles – like the Haier Series 7 – also include a limescale filter, which minimizes the need for regular maintenance and cleaning. Deep cleaning involves simply descaling the kettle interior with water with lemon or white vinegar every two to three months – depending on the hardness of your water.

How to choose the right smart kettle for you

There are a few different considerations you’ll want to make when choosing your multi-temperature electric kettle:

Capacity: It’s important you find a kettle that has the capacity for your needs. Most kettles will be measured either in liters or in cups.

Wattage: More powerful devices can heat water faster, but consume more energy – so ideally, you’ll want to find a good balance. Look for a wattage in the mid-range for better results.

Design: Think carefully about the design of your kettle, not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also from a durability perspective – always check the quality of the materials.

Safety: Looking at safety features is a must, especially if you have a younger family. Always keep an eye out for the safety functions in a kettle’s product description.

Introducing the Haier Series 5 and Series 7 Smart Kettles

At Haier, we’re excited to introduce the new Series 5 and Series 7 Smart Kettles. These appliances boast a number of cutting-edge features, prioritizing innovation, connectability and sustainability.

Let’s take a closer look at the differences between the two:

Haier Series 5 Smart Electric Kettle

The Haier Series 5 Kettle is a smart, efficient appliance, capable of operating with just 250ml of water to make a single cup of tea or coffee, while most commercial kettles require at least 500ml. Thanks to this, and other features, the Series 5 consumes up to 40% less energy than traditional kettles, ensuring substantial energy savings.

It’s also an adjustable-temperature model, with the ability to set seven different temperatures between 40°C and 100°C – including specific settings for children's food, beverages such as tea and herbal infusions, coffee, or hot water for pasta or noodles. It reaches the chosen temperature precisely and quickly and maintains the heat for up to 30 minutes.

An extra-large opening also makes it quicker to maintain, with all settings accessible through a convenient smart touch display. The Series 5 also features a limescale filter for a longer life span and features a dedicated overheating safety control to prevent mishaps.

Haier Series 7 Smart Electric Kettle

The Haier Series 7 Kettle is a top-of-the-range product – a next-generation device with advanced functions and incredibly low energy consumption.

Compared to Series 5, it has some substantial differences, using up to 80% less energy and saving time and money while increasing environmental sustainability.

The Series 7 kettle also features double vacuum-insulated walls, allowing it to keep water hot for up to 12 hours. It includes an integrated Wi-Fi module to connect to the home's internet network, and it can be linked to the hOn app to monitor energy consumption from your phone.

The appliance is also equipped with a touch setting, enabling the exact amount of water for drinks like tea and coffee to be added with utmost precision, and a pre-set temperature range from 40°C to 100°C. It even has an advanced self-cleaning system, a feature that ensures the appliance's interior remains cleaner for longer.

With both models, you’ll get access to the hOn app, where you can find a wealth of useful content and information, such as original home recipes and device maintenance tips – all available directly on your smartphone.
